Spread Your Wings Foundation donates $25,000
CARY, N.C. – The Carolina RailHawks, through their “Spread Your Wings” Foundation, have donated $25,000 to the Capital Area Soccer League’s fundraising effort for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. This donation as well as all moneys raised by CASL will go to the Red Cross in support of the victims of this terrible tragedy.
"The people of Haiti have suffered a horrific tragedy,” said RailHawks President Brian Wellman. “CASL and the RailHawks are very focused community minded organizations, and in times such as this it is our responsibility to help as much as possible.”
CASL has begun raising funds this week by sending an email to their 7,000+ member families asking for help. This is not the first time CASL has helped the troubled country. In 2009, CASL players took equipment and soccer balls to Haiti to be distributed to those in need.
“We are gratified to have the support of the local pro soccer franchise, the Carolina RailHawks, in our mission to help the folks in Haiti,” said CASL CEO Charlie Slagle. “This more than generous donation will be added to our members' donations plus the soccer supplies CASL will be collecting and sending to the earthquake ravaged nation.”
